[Joycean language processing]

The Eolus episode is a great place to start analysing Joyce's use of language.

"in the heart of the hibernian metropolis" is a fancy way of declaring the setting, more or less synonymous with 'downtown dublin' or 'nelson's pillar' or '53.349722, -6.260278'

future thesauri could rank synonyms by how lofty they sound (metropolis for city, hibernian for irish)

any episode could open with a comparably lofty description of the setting

the rhythm is palindromic: 0010001000100

"heart" was the organ of the previous episode, but the funeral passed nelson's pillar with scant acknowledgement at p92 (no mention of the trams that here represent circulating blood)
